Brookline's AWARE program (previously DARE) is a collaborative educational program by law enforcement officers, educators, students, parents, and community to reduce risky behavior among Brookline youth, from drug and alcohol abuse to cyberbullying and relationship violence. Classroom presentations are designed to help students recognize and resist the pressures that influence them to engage in unhealthy behavior.

Friendships/Bullying/Internet

Tobacco’s Physiological Effects/ Influences on Behaviors/Decisions Related to Use of Tobacco Products

Alcohol and other drugs

Role Plays (assertiveness when confronted with a tough choice)

Cyber citizenship (with BHS Peer Leaders) – 2 sessions

Topics Include:
    List what makes someone a disrespectful/respectful cyber citizen
    Consequences of that behavior
    Facebook
    Texting
    Positive uses of computer – Facebook, texting etc.
    Relative laws
    Google your name (homework)
    What did you discover when you Googled yourself?
